About This Station

The station is powered by an Oregon Scientific WMR968 Professional Weather Station. The data is collected every few seconds and the site is updated approximately every 4 seconds. This site and its data is collected using Weather Display Software. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge, and a thermo-hydro sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

A Little About Evansville

Evansville was born on 200 acres of land purchased from the government in 1812 by Hugh McGary, Jr. McGary enlisted General Robert M. Evans, an attorney and territorial legislator for whom Evansville was ultimately named, to assist in incorporating Evansville as a city. Evansville was officially incorporated on January 27, 1847 and has served as the economic and social center for the Tri-State area since that time. Located in Southwestern Indiana along the banks of the Ohio River, Evansville is Indiana’s third largest city and the regional hub for the Tri-State area. Angel Mound State Historic Site
Angel Mounds State Historic Site is nationally recognized as one of the best preserved prehistoric Native American sites in the United States. It features interactive exhibits that tell the story of the people of the Middle Mississippian culture who inhabited this area from 1100 to 1450 A.D.

Bosse Field
Currently home to the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League, Bosse Field opened in 1915 and was the first municipally owned sports facility in the United States. Only Boston's Fenway Park (1912) and Chicago's Wrigley Field (1914) are older than Evansville's Bosse Field. Whether you're a sports fan or a history buff, this structure is sure to bring back memories.

Casino Aztar
Located in Downtown Evansville on the Ohio River, Casino Aztar's "Spirit of Evansville" is a 310 foot replica of the Robert E. Lee side-wheel steamboat, and features 1,400 slot machines and 50 gaming tables.

Evansville African American Museum
Evansville's newest attraction! The Evansville African American Museum is located in one of the nation's first housing projects - Lincoln Gardens - built in 1938 under President Roosevelt's New Deal Program. The community then was known as Baptisttown and was an independent, thriving community with black doctors, lawyers and educators. The EAAM celebrates the struggles, successes and experiences of the African American culture in Evansville throughout the last 70 years..

Evansville Museum and Koch Planetarium
The Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science houses a $10 million permanent art collection ranging from 16th century paintings to modern sculptures by world-renowned artists. National and local traveling exhibits are available year-round. The children's learning and exploration center and renovated Koch Planetarium offer educational fun for all ages..

LST 325
This LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is an amphibious vessel designed to land battle-ready tanks, troops and supplies directly onto enemy shores. Ships of this type proved to be enormously useful during times of war and peace both. This particular LST was originally known as LST-325 during the Second World War, USNS LST-325 during its arctic operations in the 1950's, and later L-144 (A/G Syros) while it was in the service of the Greek Navy. It was acquired by The USS LST Ship Memorial, Inc., in 2000, and caught considerable public attention when our veteran crew brought it on a 6,500-mile journey from the Greek island of Crete to it's permanent base here in Evansville.

Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden
Indiana's oldest zoo extends over 70 acres and is home to more than 500 animals. Pathways bloom and grow with local and exotic trees and plants. New exhibits include the Monkey Ship Bumper Boat area and an interactive otter display in the newly designed Children's Enchanted Forest.

Reitz Home Museum
Return to the days of Victorian elegance and grandeur by touring the historic Reitz Home Museum. Described as one of the country's finest examples of French Second Empire architecture, the Reitz Home Museum features period furniture, silk damask-covered walls, hand-painted ceilings, delicately molded plaster friezes, French gilt chandeliers and intricately patterned wood parquet floors

Willard Library
Willard Library is the oldest operating library in the state of Indiana. It was opened in 1885 under the directive to be a public library for the use of the people of all classes, races and sexes free of charge forever. The Special Collections department houses one of the most extensive collection for genealogy study in the Midwest. January 16, 2008 WOW! I just took delivery on a brand new Boltek lightning detector, and Astrogenics NexStorm Software. I'm going to have to build a dedicated computer to start running my weather stuff. It's slowing down my main computer a bit. So, I probably won't get the Boltek up and running until then.

September 4, 2008 Modified rain gauge. Original detected rain at 0.04"(1.0mm) increments. Modified gauge records rain in ).006"(0.155mm) increments. finished just as it started to rain! Seems to be working perfectly.

May 10, 2008 Switched over to the Carter Lake Templates. Of course I didn't know what I was doing, but it was a vast improvement on my first attempt. Still had several items not working properly. I did however, give out the link to my site. Shortly after this date, a VERY kind gentleman in Michigan offered to help me 'clean up' my site a little.
